Here is a “behind the scenes” look of the “Evil/Dark Mermaid ” shoot. I got together with Abigail Esquivel and we collaborated. She came to me with her idea of a shoot she wanted to do. So she created the outfit and also did the special effects makeup look. She really wanted to capture her work. She designs costume pieces/fashion pieces and also specializes in special effects makeup. And on top of that, she also models! After hearing her ideas, I was really excited to do this shoot with her. Her model for this shoot was Karima Mota, a woman who just recently stepped into the modeling world. Although this was her very first modeling session, she did a great job at posing and having great facial expressions that fit this particular theme. So we got to our location to shoot. It was windy and a bit chilly for Texas weather. And there were signs of possible rain. But Karima pushed through all of that. Near the end of the session, I really wanted to get some shots of Karima in some water. I was a little hesitant to ask this new model, in chilly/windy weather, to get into some water. lol But I decided to ask anyway. Surprisingly enough, she agreed. So we got some really amazing shots of her in the water looking like she just came out of a horror sci-fi movie. It was like this half dead, half living dark and evil mermaid/human crawling out of the water towards us. Abigail did a great job on the makeup. Like seriously, Karima looked like she was decaying yet still very much alive. It was amazing. I am so happy and honored to be able to be a part of this project. Check out the finished photos here. I would also like to add that the costume pieces will be featured in an upcoming fashion event in Del Rio, Texas soon.
