Creative Portraiture FAQ

How long will my session last?

About an hour if you came with your hair/makeup already done. If you will be having your hair and makeup done at the session it may be up to 2 hours before the sessions is over.

How many people can be included in the photos?

Creative Portraiture sessions include one person but you may add additional people for  an additional fee per extra person.

Can I request specific photos to be taken (e.g. grandchildren/grandparents, solo of kids.)

The session will be focused on who the session is for.  If you want to add people in the session, you will have to pay an additional fee.

Can our pets be a part of our photos?

If it is a “family” type of session, then yes. We discuss what type of session it will be while we schedule you.  Just make sure you can handle your pets and that they are tame/trained. We cannot allow pets who are untrained and unpredictable as someone may become injured.

What do we need to bring?

Depending on the type of session you are having, you may have to bring your outfits you want to wear in the session. We discuss more in detail once you are scheduled for a session.

If it rains, do you have a studio to shoot at?

We have an “in home” setup where we can take photos but if your session is specifically for “outdoors” then we will reschedule. Certain sessions require an outdoor background.

What happens if you’re/I am sick or are unable to shoot the session on the scheduled day?

We will reschedule.

How many outfit changes can we have?

That depends on the location we are at on the day of session. some locations do not have any restrooms to change in. If there is a restroom nearby, you can have up to 2 outfit changes.

What if my children act up on the day of the shoot and we can’t get any good photos?

I am usually able to cheer kids up and make them laugh and have fun. I try my best to keep parents calm. Parents sometimes get nervous about their child not smiling for photos during session but please do not worry about your child’s expressions. We will make it work . I ask parents to stay calm and not raise their voices as the child can become uncomfortable during the session. Another thing we talk about is if the child was napping on the ride to the session. If child was napping then we try to give the child time to adjust and become more comfortable. If your child/ren are too upset or a little grumpy, then we can offer to reschedule.

Can this session be done at multiple locations?

No. If we go to a different location, then that will count as a different session. During outdoor sessions we will be walking around the location and take photos at different spots but session fee does not include driving to a different location altogether.  For example, if we are at a park, we will go to different spots at that park and take photos. But if we drive to a different park then that would count as a different session.

Is there an extra fee for certain (surreal, painterly  effect) edits?

If you would like a more “surreal” edit then there will be an extra fee.

What should I/we wear?

We will talk about what kind of session you want and discuss what would look best for your session.

What products do you offer?

We offer print packages, albums, digitals and a la carte.

What if I don’t like my portraits?

You will get a chance to see your portraits during the “reveal and order” appointment. That is when you decide which photos you would like.  If you do not like any of your portraits during the “reveal and order” appointment, we may offer to reshoot if the photos did not come out great due to the photographer. (blurred, very very noisy,  very overexposed, or anything else that cannot be fixed in photoshop)

How much do portrait sessions end up costing?

It depends on how much the client orders during the “reveal and order” session. Typically, a client spends an average of $600-$1500 on their session.

Why do I need to go to the “Reveal and Order” appointment to order the prints/products?

This gives you control of which prints you would like and discuss the photos with us.  It is best to come to your “reveal and order” appointment to go over your photos and to order and sign your order form etc.

What type of payments do you accept?

We accept cash or Paypal.
